Sprig is my new mini dachshund. She is also my first wirehair dachshund and I am very excited to have her. She came to me from Sharon at Doxieville and she has a wonderful personality and excelent confirmation. We as a family are planning on teaching her to hunt ducks with us and are excited to see how this project goes. Her special name is very different but she was named by my husband and if your not aware of what a Sprig is it is a name for a Pin Tail Duck. I have heard from many others that dachshunds make wonderful little duck hunting partners and my daughter is really into hunting with her dad and his black lab. So we decided that if we were going to have the doxies around they might as well learn to do the things that we like to do so that they will have more to do around our home than just raise puppies and play in the yard and house. It really does not matter if this works out or not but it is really going to be a fun project to try and see if it will work. With her wire coat she should be perfect for the cold and water that she will be exposed to during the hunts and She has the instinct already to retrieve and hunt. I will keep the site updated on her progress as our new hunting dog as well as new addition to our doxie family. Watch for updates on her as well when she gets older for our first litter of wirehair dachshunds and maybe you will want to get your own wirehair hunting doxie.
